I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Dear residents,
We hope you are all keeping well. We wanted to provide a more detailed update regarding our recent activity in Rowan Recreation Ground on Wednesday, 14 January, as part of our ongoing efforts to keep the Longthornton Ward safe and enjoyable for all residents. During our scheduled patrols, officers engaged with several individuals in the park. Three males were stopped and searched under our lawful policing powers following behaviour that raised reasonable suspicion. These searches are part of our routine proactive approach to deter crime and ensure the area remains safe for families, young people, and all those who use the recreation ground. Following these checks, one individual was arrested for possession of controlled drugs (cannabis). We understand that drug-related activity can be a concern for many in the community, and we want to reassure residents that we take these matters seriously and will always act when offences are identified.
Regular foot patrols help us identify potential problems early, build positive relationships with park users, and create a more welcoming and secure environment.
We also want to encourage continued engagement from the community. Your reports and feedback play a vital role in shaping our patrols and informing our priorities. No matter how small something may seem, the information you provide can often help us address emerging issues before they escalate. If you have questions, concerns, or information you would like to share, please don’t hesitate to contact the team. We are always happy to speak with residents, whether in person during patrols or through the usual communication channels. Working together, we can make a real difference.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support, cooperation, and commitment to keeping the Longthornton Ward a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
